Braids are a great way for men to get that fresh and clean look without having to spend hours in the salon. They’re also an easy style to do on your own! If you want to learn how, keep reading this ultimate guide for all of the braiding knowledge you’ll need.
There are three main types of braids that you can do: the French braid, the Dutch braid, and the fishtail braid. Each one is a little bit different, but they all look great when done correctly.
The French Braid
This style starts at the top of your head and brings hair over to the side as you go. It’s perfect for guys with longer hair, and it looks great when styled messy or neat.
To do a French braid, follow these simple steps:
-Part your hair down the middle and clip one side out of the way
-Starting at the top of your head, take a small section of hair and divide it into three parts
-Cross the right section over to the middle
-Take a small piece of hair from the front, cross it under and place it in between your two sections. Continue all the way down until you reach the bottom!
If some pieces are falling out or making parts messy, don’t worry about that too much. Just make sure they’re not showing when you’ve finished braiding everything else and then tuck them back into your braid. This will also help keep any flyaways tucked away so no one notices!
The Dutch Braid
Dutch braids can be tough for guys with really short hair because there’s less to work with as far as length goes. However, this is an awesome style if you want something different than what every other guy has!
This style starts like a French braid, but instead of crossing the strand from front to back, you cross it over itself. This makes your hair look braided in two directions at once!
Fishtail braid:
-Part your hair down the middle and clip one side out of the way
-Take a small section from the front of your hair and divide it into two strands
-Start braiding by crossing the right strand over to left, then take the left strand and cross it over to right. Repeat this pattern until you reach the end of your hair!
Finish off by tucking in any loose pieces and spritzing with hairspray if needed. With these three simple styles, you’re ready to rock some braids like a pro! Experiment with different lengths of hair, and add in some cool accessories to make your look even better.
To do this hairstyle:
-Part your hair down the middle and clip one side out of the way. Take this section and divide it into three pieces – left, right, and center
-Cross the right piece under all three strands that are on top (left, central and right)
Repeat until all of your hair is braided together like a Dutch braid. The Fishtail Braid If you want something with less hassle than any other type of braid there is (including no more headaches!), try a fishtail braid. This style is perfect for all hair types and lengths, making it a versatile go-to braid for any man.
